On Sunday 23 October David Tennant took on the role of the Fourteenth Doctor as Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor regenerated.
But what caused a beloved Doctor to make a comeback?
When discussing the future, showrunner Russell T Davies said: “If you thought David Tennant’s appearance was a shock, we’ve got plenty more surprises on the way! The road leading to Ncuti’s 15th Doctor is paved with mystery, terror, robots, puppets, peril, and fun! And how does it relate to Donna Noble’s welcome comeback? What, how, and why? We’ll give you a year to make your predictions, and then all hell breaks loose!
The three special episodes will transmit in November 2023 as Doctor Who celebrates its 60th anniversary.
