Darth Vader (born Anakin Skywalker) is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe. He appears in the original trilogy as a pivotal figure, as well as the prequel trilogy as a central figure. The character was created by George Lucas and has been portrayed by numerous actors. His appearances span all six Star Wars films, and he is an important character in the expanded universe of television series, video games, novels, literature and comic books. Originally a Jedi prophesied to bring balance to the Force, he falls to the dark side of the Force and serves the evil Galactic Empire at the right hand of his Sith master, Palpatine (also known as Darth Sidious). He is also the father of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa (source: wikipedia).

Why Darth Vader / Anakin Skywalker a good dad?:

The website www.starwars.com describes Darth Vader as follows:

“Once a heroic Jedi Knight, Darth Vader was seduced by the dark side of the Force, became a Sith Lord, and led the Empire’s eradication of the Jedi Order. He remained in service of the Emperor — the evil Darth Sidious — for decades, enforcing his Master’s will and seeking to crush the fledgling Rebel Alliance. But there was still good in him…”

The main reason why we included Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader as one of our top movie fathers, was that although he was not perfect, in the end he proved himself by sacrificing his own life for his children.

There are these really cool illustrations available from the children’s books “Darth Vader and Son” and “Vader’s Little Princess“, written and illustrated by Jeffrey Brown, who show us that Darth Vader could be a good father… Enjoy!
