With Black Friday coming up Steam has jumped the shark and released the Black Friday / Thanksgiving sale a bit earlier than usual. The sale is running from 26 November to 2 December. Keep in mind this isn’t the full Winter sale and is just a sale to keep you busy. With today being Thanksgiving for our American fans, we wish you a happy Thanksgiving. We can give thanks for Gaben for bringing the Steam sale.
Some games on sale we recommend:
Sid Meyer’s Beyond Earth – $34.99 USD (or your regional equivalent)
Taking Civilisation to beyond the stars, it’s not as polished as Civ 5 (but that has 2 expansions and has been patched until it’s the finely tuned machine it currently is). It’s still a fun entry for those who are new to the series and with future updates and expansions it will most likely be as polished as Civ 5 one day.

Don’t Starve – $3.74 USD (or your regional equivalent)
With an almost Tim-Burton-esque look, Don’t Starve is a survival game in which you (as the name implies) try to not starve. It’s very much survival-based in that you need to scrounge for food and items to survive. With the new expansion coming out ‘Don’t Starve Together’ – which brings in multiplayer to the mix – now’s a good time to get the game.

The Long Dark – $9.99 USD (or your regional equivalent)
Disclosure: I have not played the Long Dark yet, but from videos and previews I have read about the game it does sound and look promising. The idea of surviving against the harshness and threats of Mother nature does sound intriguing.
